The German Design Award
As the international premium prize of the German Design Council, the German Design Award is one of the most recognized design awards worldwide. In 2021, more than 4,200 entries from 60 countries were received, and in the first ten years, around 20,000 entries from 87 countries. The German Design Award makes visible in an impressive way the contribution design makes to solving the diverse design tasks of our environment.
It honors pioneering designers and their work. Internationally, companies from the fields of product design, communication design and architecture are called upon to submit projects that surprise with their approach to solving problems and use design in an exemplary manner to meet the requirements of a consistently sustainable economy.
German Design Council - the awarding body
The German Design Council has been operating since 1953 as the world's leading competence center for communication and knowledge transfer in the field of design, brand and innovation. With international offerings, support for young designers and memberships, it is part of the global design community and has always contributed to establishing exchange and networks worldwide.
Through events, congresses, awards, jury meetings and expert circles, the German Design Council networks its members and numerous other international design and brand experts, promotes discourse and provides important impulses for the global economy. Its membership currently includes more than 350 companies.
